The first half of each pair spell out the first four letters of the word "solve." The second set of letters spell out the same word in a 13-rotational alphabet cipher, known as ROT-13, where each letter is rotated halfway through the alphabet. The ROT-13 encoding of "solve" is "fbyir," to the final pair of letters would be E and R.
